New Spyware Holds Your Computer Ransom

We are frequently asked what motivates the writers of viruses, adware and other malware. Often these ne’er-do-wells are after your money. Recently a new infection has surfaced which takes this to a new level. This boot sector virus hijacks your computer, prevents it from booting, and instead shows a message which says:

Your PC is blocked. All the drives were encrypted. Browse [website removed] to get access to your system and files. Any attempt to restore the drives using other way will lead to inevitable data loss !!! Please remember your ID: [ID removed]. With its help your sign-on password will be generated. Enter password:”

If you enter the password incorrectly three times, it will reboot and show you the message again. If you get this message on your computer, do not visit the website and give your financial information away. You can enter the password “aaaaaaciip” in order to get past this screen, but your computer will still be infected, leaving you vulnerable to future infection.
